A recently renovated Walmart on SW Highway 200 has unveiled a new horse-themed mural that highlights Ocala.
Walmart unveiled a “Horse Capital of the World” mural earlier this month at its store in southwest Ocala. Located at 9570 SW Highway 200, the store has undergone a series of renovations over the past several months, including the new mural.
The newly commissioned piece is displayed above the store’s cart area.
Painted by Kierra Amaral, the mural depicts multiple Ocala scenes, including parts of the Ocala Forest, Silver Springs, the World Equestrian Center, and a local horse farm, as well as several horses.
All of the imagery surrounds a golden horseshoe with the words “Horse Capital of the World” scrawled across in cursive lettering.
According to the artist’s website, Amaral is a University of South Florida student of the fine arts, whose inspirations include animated classics created by Pixar, DreamWorks, and other studios and artists.
