‘Suspicious deaths’: Two bodies found in SW Ocala home, deputies say

(UPDATE: On Tuesday morning, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office stated that an investigation has revealed that the incident at the home on SW 20th Lane in Ocala was a murder-suicide. Deputies are attempting to contact the next of kin, and the names of the deceased will not be released until this has been completed.)

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation after two deceased bodies were found inside a home in southwest Ocala on Monday night.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a residence located on SW 20th Lane in Ocala in reference to a well-being check. Upon arrival, they located a man and woman inside the home who were both deceased.

Detectives soon arrived on scene to investigate the deaths. No further details were provided by the sheriff’s office as the investigation is ongoing.

“Please note that this incident is NOT connected to the double homicide from Sunday,” stated MCSO in a social media post.

At around 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 15, deputies responded to a home in the Whispering Sands neighborhood in southeast Ocala due to a “suspicious incident.”

When deputies arrived at the home, they located the bodies of two victims, a man and woman, who had sustained gunshot wounds.

Detectives are actively investigating the double homicide in Whispering Sands, and MCSO is asking for help from the public.

On its Facebook page, the sheriff’s office stated, “If you saw anything in the early morning hours on Sunday that could be related to this incident, please call Detective Joe Miller at 352-369-6806.
