Ocala woman dies after car crashes into tractor-trailer on I-75

A 27-year-old Ocala woman was killed on Wednesday morning after her car struck a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 in Marion County.

Shortly before 9:45 a.m., the woman was traveling northbound on I-75, near mile marker 357, in the left lane. At the same time, the tractor-trailer was parked within the paved median emergency lane due to a separate crash that it was involved in, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that when the car was just south of the State Road 326 exit, it veered towards the left for unknown reasons. Moments later, the car exited the roadway, and its front left section struck the right rear section of the trailer.

The tractor-trailer’s driver and sole occupant, a 44-year-old man from Harrisburg, Virginia, was not injured in the crash.

As a result of the accident, the left and center northbound lanes of I-75 were closed for several hours while FHP conducted an investigation. The lanes were reopened at 1:12 p.m.

The names of the drivers involved in the crash were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
