Hit-and-run crash in SW Ocala leaves elderly motorcyclist in critical condition

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run crash in southwest Ocala that critically injured an elderly motorcyclist on Thursday afternoon.

Shortly after 2:15 p.m., a 74-year-old Dunnellon man was traveling northbound on State Road 200, near the intersection of 100th Street, on a 2019 Harley Davidson motorcycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that as the motorcycle approached the intersection, a dark in color pickup truck turned left in front of the motorcycle. Moments later, the front of the motrocycle crashed into the right side of the pickup truck.

After the collision, the pickup truck fled the scene of the crash and was last seen traveling southbound on State Road 200.

The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

The Florida Highway Patrol asks anyone with information about the pickup truck or driver involved in this hit-and-run crash to call FHP’s Regional Communications Center at 1-800-387-1290.
