Resurfacing of Silver Springs Blvd at center of upcoming FDOT meeting

The Florida Department of Transportation is inviting local residents to a public meeting about its plans to resurface 30 miles of East Silver Springs Boulevard/E State Road 40, from downtown Ocala to the Lake County line.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, June 13, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place, which is located at 1821 NW 21st Avenue in Ocala.

According to FDOT, the state is looking to “maintain the asphalt and extend the life of the existing roadway” through the project. The public meeting is being held to present information and receive community feedback.

The meeting will feature a looping presentation and project displays, and team members will be on hand to accept comments and questions from residents.

For those that are unable to attend in person, a virtual option is available beginning at 5:30 p.m. Access that digital stream here.

According to FDOT, the roadwork is part of three separate resurfacing projects all along E SR 40 from U.S. Hwy 441 to the NE 25th Avenue, from NE 25th Avenue to NE 64th Avenue, and from NE 64th Avenue to the Lake County Line.

In addition to repaving all of the travel lanes, the project also calls for reconstructing sidewalk to fill in small gaps on the eastbound and westbound sides.
