A 200-acre Thoroughbred horse farm in north Marion County that served as the training grounds for multiple world-class champions, including Triple Crown-winner American Pharoah, was just purchased for $5.3 million by a group that intends to preserve the property’s racing legacy.

The McKathan Brothers’ Farm located at 14140 U.S. Highway 301 in Citra was purchased by Dream With Me Florida, LLC, on September 9, according to a deed filed with the Marion County Clerk of Courts. That company is registered to Christophe Nouvellet of Lexington, Kentucky.

According to a press release by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners Association, the new property owner intends to continue and preserve the property’s legacy.

Located in the northern part of the county, the facility was operated for many years by brothers J.B. and Kevin McKathan, the namesakes of the business. Following J.B.’s passing in 2019, Kevin continued operations at the large site.

Now, the new owners say the farm will not be redeveloped and that they will instead continue to serve the racing industry with the extensive equine amenities offered at the facility.
