An Anthony woman who was found dead in her residence last week died as a result of being stabbed and the man arrested in connection with her death remains hospitalized in Miami suffering from burn wounds.
The body of 20-year-old Kiara Alleyene was found in her residence, located at 2241 NE 78th Lane in Anthony, on Sept. 11 after Marion County sheriff’s deputies received a call from a family member who was concerned about her well-being.
A short time later, sheriff’s detectives received information that 30-year-old Deangelo Leandrew Shelton Clark had threatened to take Alleyene’s life and his own. An Amber Alert was issued but later was canceled for the couple’s daughter, 11-month-old Jhene Clark, after she was found safe with a family member in Marion County.
Clark was arrested that same day in the Florida Keys by deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in a bizarre series of events that included a call for a home burglary and a vehicle fire. He was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center in Miami with burns to his arms and remains hospitalized. When he is released, he will be transported back to Marion County to face charges.
Clark’s capture in Monroe County took place after the sheriff’s office there received a call about a home burglary on Overseas Highway on Long Key, just north of the town of Layton. Responding Deputies received high quality video of the suspect and car.
Shortly after a be-on-the-lookout was issued, another 911 call came in from Edgewater Road at Mile Marker 57.3 on Grassy Key. The caller said a man was screaming that his car blew up and he was burned.
Moments later, a third 911 call came in about a fire at an adjacent property on Overseas Highway. A car was reportedly engulfed in flames and had caught the stilted home on fire as well. The car was a Mazda CX7 sport utility vehicle – the same car Marion County officials reported was being driven by Clark.
Clark’s burns were deemed serious and Marathon Fire Rescue paramedics took him to the Sheriff’s Office’s Aviation Unit hangar at the Florida Keys Marathon International Airport, where he was airlifted to Miami.
Clark could face more charges out of Monroe County pending the Fire Marshal’s investigation.
