Bandits damage empty house owned by Summerfield church, steal TV from another home

Marion County Sheriff’s deputies were called to investigate two burglaries in Summerfield on Wednesday.

According to sheriff’s office reports, an official at Open Door Community Church, located at 5200 SE 145th Street, called for help after discovering that someone had entered and damaged an unoccupied residence owned by the church. The deputy drove to the house, located in the 14700 block of SE 52nd Court and found several holes in the rear door of the residence. There also was writing and more holes on walls inside the home, the report states.

A deputy also was called to a home in the 9500 block of SE 161st Place after a woman reported seeing a suspicious person carrying items from a neighbor’s house. The deputy called the homeowner and spoke with her, then searched the home and didn’t find anybody inside it.

The deputy said it looked like someone had gone through the home, but the only thing he could confirm missing was a $700 television. The homeowner told him she would be coming back soon and would file a report of everything that she finds missing.
