Four arrested after caller reports seeing vehicle burglaries in Marion County

Remington Gavlik

Marion County sheriff’s deputies scrambled to the 4800 block of NE 2nd Court on Saturday after a caller reported seeing four people breaking into vehicles.

When deputies arrived, they initially detained 18-year-old Remington Gavlik, two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old who were believed to be involved in the incident. Sheriff’s Property Crimes detectives responded to the scene, conducted interviews and ultimately arrested all four suspects, a sheriff’s office report states.

Gavlik, who detectives say was in possession of three firearms stolen from unlocked vehicles in the area, was transported to the Marion County Jail. He was charged with two counts of armed burglary, unarmed burglary, petit theft, obtaining property by fraud, larceny/possession of a stolen credit/debit card, two counts of petit theft, grand theft and grand theft of a firearm.

Gavlik was released Monday on $31,000 bond and is due in a Marion County courtroom on March 5 at 9 a.m. to answer to the 10 charges. The list of charges against the three juveniles wasn’t available.
