‘Sketchy’ Belleview woman nabbed in connection with theft at Ocala Wal-Mart

Elizabeth Marie Butler

A Belleview woman who was described as acting “sketchy” was arrested Sunday night after being accused of stealing several items from an Ocala Wal-Mart.

A loss prevention associate at the store, located at 34 Bahia Ave., told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that 43-year-old Elizabeth Marie Butler entered the store with her husband and juvenile son and failed to pay for several items before being stopped, a sheriff’s office report states.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy watched video surveillance footage of Butler and saw her fail to scan several items and then put them back in her cart and shopping bags at a self-checkout station. The deputy also noted that Butler scanned a box of Kool-Aid in place of several different electronics items and meat products. The value of the stolen items was $84.09, the report says.

Butler, who lives in the 10000 block of SE 49th Court in Belleview, was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with larceny/petit theft. She was being held on $250 bond and is due in court Nov. 7 at 8 a.m. to answer to the charge.
