Marion sheriff seeks help in nabbing man accused of beating woman with belt

Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods is asking for the public’s help in catching a man accused of beating a woman with a belt all over her body.

Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods is asking for the public’s help in catching Jontrelle Bell, who is wanted in connection with a woman being beaten with a belt.

Woods, speaking during his regular “Wanted by Woods Wednesday” segment on the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page, asked for assistance in locating 20-year-old Jontrelle Bell, who has warrants for felony battery and violation of probation.

“This waste of space didn’t put his ‘hands’ on a woman, instead he severely beat a woman with a belt all over her body,” Woods said.

The sheriff also offered a warning to the person he believes is hiding Bell from law enforcement.

“You’re not doing yourself any favors, so you might want to bring him to my jail and let him turn himself in,” Woods said.

Woods added that he really doesn’t believe Bell will surrender to law enforcement.

“Individuals who like to beat women and individuals who like to hide criminals aren’t going to do the right thing and turn him in so we need your help,” he said.

Anyone with information about Bell’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Marion County at (352) 368-STOP and reference 21-10 in their tip. If you use Crime Stoppers and your tip leads to an arrest, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
