Multiple shootings, no suspects in rash of firearm incidents in Ocala

Multiple reports of shootings this past week resulted in one Ocala man injured, community confusion, and no suspects arrested.

Three separate incidents of gunshots being fired were reported on June 16, with two in northwest Ocala and one in northeast Ocala.

During one of the incidents, Ocala Police Department found a man wounded by gunshots to his bicep and torso. Emergency medical crews arrived on the scene and treated the man for the wounds, and an officer found 12 casings while searching nearby streets, according to a department report.

In a separate incident, a woman was jarred out of sleep and got on the ground after she heard multiple gunshots. Three shell casings were found in the roadway in front of her home and a bullet hole was observed in her trunk, according to a report from the Ocala Police Department. A neighbor across the street confirmed that he also heard the gunshots, adding that he witnessed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed along NW 19th Court.

A third incident reported by a woman occurred at Berkeley Pointe Apartments, where police reported finding shell casings next to a vehicle, which appeared to have been struck.
