‘Hoops and Badges’ free basketball tournament in Ocala

An annual basketball tournament featuring Ocala/Marion County first responders is set to return on Friday, June 16.

The Ocala Police Department’s annual basketball showdown, Hoops and Badges, will tip off at 10 a.m. at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center located at 1821 NW 21st Avenue in Ocala.

The family-friendly event will include two games. In the first match-up, a team of OPD officers will go head-to-head against the Family and Mentoring United (F.A.M.U. 352) group.

Afterwards, bragging rights will be on the line as OPD officers compete in the second game against Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

“We invite the entire community to come out and support our first responders as they take to the court!” stated the Ocala Police Department in a social media post. There is no cost to attend the event, and it is open to the public.
