More readers want a water park in Ocala/Marion County

Several more readers submitted letters to Ocala-News.com to weigh in on the topic of bringing a water park to Ocala/Marion County.

“I agree with all the others, we need some type of water park in Marion County. I would purchase a season pass for our child and it would be used frequently. It was a great place for the friends to gather. I knew that all the friends would be having a good safe time (I’m talking middle of the 90s). Now we have to travel several hours to find a decent water park and take a chance that it is not overloaded. Our park does not have to be extravagant, it needs to be a place that the families can bring their kids and know they will have a fun day,” says Belleview resident Theresa Grimes.

“I agree, a water park would be great in Ocala. Solar-run would save expenses, and you could offer high school kids credits for volunteering to be lifeguards and clean up. If you include concessions, let local restaurants donate food for free advertising. Have families that enjoy the park take their trash home to keep it clean and be able to run the park at minimal cost. Let schools hold dances and concerts, with them cleaning up after themselves. It should be a community park. I’m sure people would donate their time to keep it going,” says Angie Diaz, Ocala resident.

“I remember as a child going to Wild Waters/Silver Springs to see the animals and to have family time with our loved ones, and now that I am a mother of two children, I would want to share some of my childhood experiences with them from where we call home (Ocala). Ocala is not just the horse capital, it was more until the county took away any fun experiences that the child may of had. Bring back a water park to Ocala,” says Ocala resident Jennifer Chase.
