Navy testing inert bombs in Ocala National Forest through July 1

The U.S. Navy will conduct inert bomb tests in the Ocala National Forest through Thursday of this week.

The U.S. Forest Service National Forests in Florida made the announcement via social media. Like testing that took place earlier this summer, this round will once again take place at the Pinecastle Range Complex, which is located in the Ocala National Forest, a few miles south of Juniper Springs.

The training event will take place through Thursday, July 1.

“Like last week’s training event, be aware of wildlife that become displaced due to the noise,” reads a Facebook post from the organization. The post warns visitors to take caution while traveling through nearby roadways as animals may be crossing the road more frequently.

An inert bomb is one whose inner energetic material has been removed or otherwise rendered harmless.

The U.S. Navy ran similar tests leading up to Father’s Day weekend earlier this year.
